Steven H. Emerson, CPA, CGFM, CGAP, CFE, CITP, CGMA, has more than 15 years of public accounting experience and has performed over 250 audit engagements and over 100 Single Audit engagements. He has also completed 18 tax seasons.

Steve has spent 15 years in staff and supervisory roles conducting and leading both tax and auditing engagements and started his own consulting firm on July 1, 2010. He provides consulting to small and large accounting firms both locally and nationally and to governmental entities and internal audit departments. Steve has served as an instructor for the Association of Government Accountants' (AGA) Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) exam review program where he instructed for the AGA throughout the United States. He also volunteers his time to the Government Finance Officers Association reviewing CAFR (Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting) reports, Budgets (Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program), PAFR (Popular Annual Financial Reporting Awards Program) reports and SGAFR (Certificate of Conformance Program for Small Government Annual Financial Reports) reports and is a board member of SafeHouse of Shelby County. Steve actively promoted Shepherd CPA Association, an association for small accounting firms for three years and has merged this association with CPAPlus Network where he actively recruits for and promotes CPAPlus Network in the Birmingham, Alabama and surrounding areas. He owned and operated an outsource parts rework business for over 16 years.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and Accounting from the University of North Alabama. He resides in Alabaster, Alabama along with his wife Tracy and their two children where they are members of Community Baptist Church, Maylene, Alabama. Steve has volunteered his time to the church by teaching an adult Sunday School class and serving as church treasurer.
